Since its inception in the year 2001, Shrimad Adya Jagadguru Shankaracharya Vedic Sodha Sansthanam, Varanasi (U.P.) has carried out a number of activities for the spread of the Sanatana Dharma as advocated by Adya Jagadguru Shankaracharya. A few of these are enumerated below: 1. The Sansthanam organises Shrimad Adya Jagadguru Shankaracharya Bhagwatpad Mahasahastrabdi Jayanti Mahotsava and Pravajya (Sanyas) at various prominent cities of India every year since 2001. The basic idea is to propagate the Adya Jagadguru's message of national integration, universal brotherhood and world place. These celebrations were held Varanasi, Nasik, Tirthraj Prayag, New Delhi, Trayambkeshwar, Ujjain and Mumbai. They have met with great success in drawing hundreds of thousands of people all over the country towards the Vedic dharma. 2. The Sansthanam is engaged in unearthing rare and illuminating literature on Adi Shankaracharya, his writing, literature, spiritual endeavours and other relevant materials through continuous research. For example: 2.1 Parivrajak Swami Gyananandji Saraswati, the Founder and Chairman of the Sansthanam has carried out a detailed and intensive research on Adya Jagadguru Shankaracharya and has established authoritatively Adya Shankaracharya's exact birth date with special reference to his life and works by placing the same in proper chronological order with historical evidences. He has ascertained that Adi Jagadguru Shankaracharya was born on 2631 Yuddhisthir Samvat 2593 Kali Samvat 509 B.C. 2.2 Parivrajak Swami Gyananandji Saraswati of the Sansthanam carried out an intensive research and has authentically ascertained the authentication of the date of the original consecration of the Jyotirlinga at Somnath in Gujarat as 10 Treta Yuga of the Vaivaswat Manvantar i.e. 7,99,25,105 years ago. 2.3 Parivrajak Swami Gyananandji Saraswati of the Sansthanam has also authentically ascertained the date of Bhagwan Shree Krishna's Golokdham Prasthan (His departure for his heavenly abode) as the first day of the bright fortnight of the Chaitra month which corresponds with the 18th February of the English Calendar in the year of 3102 B.C. at 2.27.30 hours. Based on the above findings, the Somnath Trust set up by the Government of Gujarat, celebrated Shri Krishna Golokdham Utsav on 9th April, 2005 for the first time in the history in the last 5107 years. Both the above researches are revolutionary from the historical perspective. 2.4.

Parivrajak Swami Gyananandji Saraswati of the Sansthanam carried out an intensive research about b[FJT[0FD= of the river Narmada. He has also established that there was no river India as per the Indian scriptures before the Narmada upon the earth. He also researched about the Prakatya tithi of Omkareshwar Jyotirling. (CFLBSnK S] :JF_OE" DgJgT[ S] Q]TFO'U R[0FRT'Y| SFLT|S Z'sN pSFBZl) He has established that the Omkareshwar Jyotirling is a :JO_E" Prakatya Jyotirlingam, whereas the Mamleshwar Parthivlingam is a lingam set up by the saint Vindhya Giri. 2.6 Parivrajak Swami also ascertained the exact birth date of Lord Shri Krishna. As per the research, he ascertained that Lord Shri Krishna was born on 21st July, 3228 B.C. /EFB+ S\I0F CI6Dl? at the DF]iFBFLOGl K'[l Mathura and lived for 125 years, 7 months, 7 days. He went to his heavenly abode /UF]NF]S bFD? on 18th February, 3102 B.C. Friday, at Shri Prabhaskshetra, Saurashtra. 2.7 Parivrajak Swami through his research also ascertained the timings of the world famous Mahabharat War that was fought between the Kauravas and the Pandavas on the famous battlefield of the Kurukeshtra. He has ascertained that the DXFEF[T battle commenced on DFU|Zl|IF Z'sN K+LTKBF of 3138 B.C. He has also ascertained that Lord Shri Krishna was 89 years 2 months and 7 days old on the day he preached A+X=DLJnF IMUXF:= EUJNUlTF to Shri Arjuna. 3. The Sansthanam carried out systematic campaigns for purging the sacred stream of the holy Ganges from pollution by motivating a large number of people with active involvement and co-operation of educational institutions, government employees, non-governmental organisations, religious heads etc. under the banner of [iFT= U_UFD= CF_BF]NG. 4. The Sansthanam carried out a planned campaign of plantation of trees like Pepal, Tulsi, Bunyan, Neem etc. having medicinal value for the protection and up- gradation of the environment. During the campaign efforts were made to plant more than 10,000 saplings in the Purvanchal region near Varanasi. 5. The Sansthanam has organised a number of national level seminars / workshops on the Shankara Vedanta Darshan during the Annual Celebrations. Besides, the cultural and musical programmes based on the life and works of Adi Shankaracharya were also organised during these celebrations. 6.
The Sansthanam
organised Shibirs of one month duration during Maha
Kumbha Parvas at various places like Tirthraj
Prayag, Nasik, Trayambkeshwar and Ujjain
and held a number of religious discourses for educating the people
about the historical and astrological importance of the Kumbha Parva.
Besides, international seminars on the theme of astrological importance of
the Maha Kumbha (hOF]LTIF
DXFS'_E) were also held for the
benefit of thousands of people. This was a great attraction for the people
at large because this was never attempted before. 7. The Sansthanam organised 800 k.m. long Adi Shankar Digvijay Yatra from Varanasi to New Delhi on the occasion of 2512th birth anniversary of Adi Shankaracharya during 2003. The Yatra was flagged off from Varanasi and it passed through Prayag, Buland Shehar, Hapur, Noida and concluded at New Delhi. It was participated by over more than 100 saints, devotees and dignitaries wherein the message of Adi Shankaracharya was conveyed through devotional songs. On the conclusion of the Yatra at New Delhi, the Sansthanam also organised a workshop of the Vedic Scholars from 6th May, 2003 to 8th May, 2003 at the IIPA Bhavan, New Delhi, wherein a number of eminent people from all walks of life including a number of foreign ambassadors participated. 8. The Sansthanam also organises one month duration camps during the DFW DXF]t;J at the Tirthraj Prayag per annum wherein Akhil Bhartiya Vidwat Satra is held to discuss karma kand, jyotisha, Shanker Vedanta and other religious subjects by the vedic scholars. During these camps, free food as well as medical facilities are provided to all the pilgrims. The Sansthanam also carries out intensive campaign for the welfare of the Ganges, cows, women enlightenment etc. under the banner of U_UF UF} SgOF ZLsT[iFF activities. 9. Thanks to the efforts of the Sansthanam, several states like the Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and New Delhi have introduced a topic on the life-long contribution of Shrimad Adya Jagadguru Shankaracharya to the national integration and the realm of Indian philosophy in the syllabus at the primary as well secondary / higher secondary level. 10. This year the Sansthanam celebrated 2514th birth anniversary of Shrimad Adya Jagadguru Shankaracharya at Mumbai on 13th May, 2005. A number of scholars delivered their lecturers on various topics related to Shrimad Shankaracharya in a five days seminar organised on the occasion. Shri Nawal Kishore Sharma, H.E. the Governor of Gujarat inaugurated the event which was attended by a large number of prominent people . This was followed by a short musical ballet named ''zFš[FJT[0FD='' based on the life and works of Adi Shankaracharya by 40 students of Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, New Delhi. This was followed up by the national integration ''zf]fEFOfQF'' and a 5 days Ganesh Panchayatam Mahayagna in Mumbai. One road at Pavai near IIT College at Mumbai was also named as Adi Shankaracharya Marg in his honour. 11. Ministry of Railways, Government of India, started a new train from Varanasi to New Delhi named '' LzFJU_UF ps;K]+;'' on 17th May, 2002 on the occasion of the celebration of 2511th birth anniversary of Adi Jagadguru Shankaracharya. This was largely due to the efforts of the Sansthanam. 12. On the occasion of 2510th birth anniversary of Adi Jagadguru Shankaracharya , 3 days celebrations were held at Varanasi where Adi Jagadguru Shankaracharya Mandapam was set up in the Sampoornanand Vishwa Vidyalaya, Varanasi due to efforts of Parivrajak Swami Gyananandji Saraswati of the Sansthanam. 13. The Shrimad Adya Jagadguru Shankaracharya Vedic Shodha Sansthanam organised a 2 days seminar in joint collaboration with Anand Agricultural University, Anand, Gujarat during 20th June, 2005 to 22nd June, 2005 on ''Parjanya-2005. (''Monsoon-2005'' Ancient and Modern Techniques.) 180 scholars on astrology, meteorology and astrology assembled from states of the country and deliberated upon various methods of prediction for the rain in the modern times. This was followed by a Parjanya Yagna. |
